Food labels

Food packages are labelled to provide us with information about a product we might want to buy in the supermarket.

The labels include nutrition information (e.g., how much of a certain nutrient or calories does this product contain?), portion information (e.g., what is the standard portion of this product and how many calories/nutrients does it contain?), allergen information (e.g., are certain common allergens like soy, nuts, gluten or lactose included in this product?), health claims (statements linking the product or its ingredients to a health outcome), sustainability labels (e.g., Fair Trade, Animal Welfare) and many more.
