Diabetes is a disease which occurs when your blood glucose (often called blood sugar) is too high. Diabetes is a complex condition which can affect the entire body by damaging the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves. There are two types of diabetes, type 1 and 2. Type 1 is also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes here the pancreas produces little or no insulin by itself. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin. Type 2 diabetes has been on the rise, due in part to the growing numbers of people affected by overweight. Understanding how to maintain a healthy lifestyle can prevent type 2 diabetes.
