Food packages are labelled to provide people with information about a product we might want to buy in the supermarket.
The labels include nutrition information (e.g., how much of a certain nutrient does this product contain or how many calories does this product have), portion information (e.g., what is the standard portion of this product to be consumed and how many calories/nutrients does such a portion contain?), allergen information (e.g., are certain known allergens like soy, nuts, gluten or lactose included in this product?), health claims and symbols (statements linking the product or its ingredients to a health outcome), sustainability labels (e.g., Fair Trade, Animal Welfare, Carbon Footprint, Rainforest Alliance) and many more.
